Logo ideas

We have created 3 different logo designs for the record label that we are creating and below I will analyse each one and decide our chosen one.
Design 1

This is our first design and as you can see we have decided to call our record label Grunge Records. This logo has the dull and dark colour grey which fits the grunge theme that we obviously want to create because we need the relationship between the picture and the name of our company. We decided to use an owl because it again adds to the darkness of the logo that we want because owls are out only at night so they are associated with night time which can also convey a mysterious theme to the label. Another feature that I like about this logo is the piercing red eyes that stand out really well because of how light and dull the grey is, the only real colour on he logo is the bright red so it adds an extra layer to the design. However the reason this is not going to be the chosen logo is because it doesn't look as clean or professional as we would like our official logo to be this could possibly be because an owl isn't the most artistic when changed into  cartoon form, which is why it wasn't as successful as we hoped and why we decided to make other designs to chose from. Also the titles and the lettering being in capital letters doesn't make the words stand out as much as we need it to be and the colour that we chose also doesn't make it attractive to the audience because it is only a shade darker than the colour we used in for the owl so this design was not as effective as we hoped.

Design 2

The second design which we created was vey different to the first logo because we changed the theme of an animal to a more scary theme. We decided this because we wanted to incorporate the 'grunge' part of the name of our label more and we did this by using the red blood on the top and the bottom of the two triangles. The two triangles also appear to be like a sand timer which could suggest an aspect of time to the audience and could also could be used to give us another theme that suggests to our artists that time counts and also that the process is hard because the blood can appear to b dripping in the same way that sweat drips so it shows that to be successful in the music industry it takes time and a lot of effort. However this message may not be clear to everyone that looks at the logo to maybe this wont be the best design for our record label. Another reason why we will not be choosing this design as our final one is because it looks very basic and almost like we have made it in a very simple way which again doesn't look professional at all and we asked other people for their view on this design an they said that the blood looks very fake and they didn't really understanding the meaning of the logo. They also suggested that we create a different logo that is more simple and clean to make it look less amateur and as professional as possible, with more colour and less red.

Design 3

This is our third and final design which is very different to the previous two designs as the colours have changed and the overall theme has definitely changed for the better. We decided to stay away from the colour red because it looks very tacky in the previous design so we changed the colour to a sleek purple. This colour is very dark bit with an ashy and grey tint to it which relates to the grunge theme that we previously wanted for the original designs so when we were creating the right shade of purple we knew that we wanted it to be on the darker side rather than a bright shade. The effect in the purple we used was a paint stroke and we got this idea from the Sony logo design but we made the stroke our own with the different colour that we used and the effect we used on the paint stroke which was a slight shine on the edges of the paint which gave tat extra attractiveness that made the logo look very clean and professional. The font of the grunge records was very difficult to find because we wanted something to work with the sleek paint stroke so we decided to make it italic and fancy with the letters joining up creating a nice flow in the words which gave it a slightly gothic effect. We also added a crayon like feature over the top  the writing that gives it the rough edge that makes it link to the grunge run down theme. Overall this was the best design because it has  the splash of colour that makes it eye catching but the colour isn't too bright so that we lose the dullness that we wanted, I also looks clean and simple without looking basic like the previous designs which is why we chose this as our final design.
